Living Authentically

How much of you do you want to know and reveal? It is an age old question that deserves another look especially in this time of ubiquitous social media. How likely are we to censor our lives to fit others expectations of us? So much so that we censor ourselves to ourselves?

For years and years, I hid from the full truth of who I was and my journey getting to that place. There were so many times I cringed at the thought of having an honest discussion with myself about what made me me that I chose instead to hide my truth not only from the world but from myself. I questioned God's place in my life during many of those dishonest years... I now realize that part of that confusion was because I'd placed a false Sylvia in the place of the true and living God. I didn't want to accept many of my traumas and decisions I made because of them and I certainly couldn't surrender to the idea that God had a greater plan for all of it.

But there comes a time in our lives when to live authentically trumps the façade. We eventually see that finding your true identity in Christ is the only way to live and worship God in Spirit and in TRUTH (John 4:23). Lets face it: it takes work to maintain a false self. But, it also takes work to peel off the layers and reveal the truth about you. It's all a matter of what work you want to do? The one takes years to prop up with lacquer and sequins; the layers get heavy speaking from experience! The other takes some demolition and dust to reveal the real hidden beauty beneath; I can attest to the fact that there is pain and beauty in the remodel! Our good and gracious Father promises to meet us in that sacred place of demolition and refurbishment. It is never too late to cry out to God for a redo. In fact, Lamentations 3:23 (NLT) says, "Great is his faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning."

Is this the day you ask God to help you to live authentically placing Him in the position of Primo? If so, reach out to Him and see if He directs you to chat with us here at Arise Daughter. We would be HONORED to join you in the necessary work that God will lead.

Much love today fellow "works in progress." Sylvia
